Day 45- Four Wheel!

One day after passing pickup after pickup with at least one four-wheeler in the back, I asked my husband if it was mandatory that all pickups sold in St. George include one.  There are extensive trails for riding, but this being the desert it means little brush and lots of sand, thus almost anywhere is a great place to ride.   

Day 44- Bear Paw Cafe!

Trying to get a seat here on any given morning will get you wait listed and the joy of sitting outside on a bench, waiting your turn. What I don't understand is WHY? The restaurant has a great reputation but to me, very undeserved. Of the four times or so I have eaten here, the food was blah and the service did NOT come with a smile. Yes, the pancakes are the size of a plate, but then so are cowpies and the shear magnitude of their size does nothing to encourage my desire to eat them. Bear Paw should be like a rope; skipped!  

day 43- Gallery Walk!

The Art on Main Gallery Walk is held four times a year and is a free community event. Begin at the St. George Art Museum by picking up a punch card then walk down Main Street and stop in each of the nine fine art galleries to get your card (not your face!) punched. Turn your cards in at the Twenty-Five Main Cafe where at 9:00 that night a drawing will be held and the winner will receive a piece of original art. Personally, I am drowning in original art. Of course the artist were all in grade school... 

Day 42- Lip Trix!

If they don't got it, you don't need it! This cool place has skate boards, snow boards, and clothes. To up the awesomeness even more, they do snow board rentals so you don't have to wait in the huge lines at the mountain. The guys at Lip Trix are uber friendly and helpful. Totally cool place.  

Day 41- Deseret Industries!

When you think of shopping at Deseret Industries does 'full length fur pimp coat' pop into your mind? Well it should as that is exactly what this is! Found it and had a friend model it for me. I didn't buy the coat as it was $50 and just the day before I had given myself a very stern talking to about not buying anything at D.I. unless it was practical. To this day, every time I see this photo I fall to the floor in tears and wail. What the crap was I thinking? A full length fur pimp coat! Who ever bought this coat....BRING IT BACK!

Day 40- No See-Ums!

Luckee mee! Last spring I spent three days in the mountains, right smack dab in the middle of NSU season. Can't remember what I ate, but I know what those little buggers ate...ME! These darlings come out in the spring and (according to an old wives tale) die off after five days of temps over 100*. Is it true? Don't know about that, but what I do know is hell is full of bad people and these flying teeth...

Day 39- Art Around The Corner- Meditation!

Art Around The Corner is a foundation that supports the arts in St. George. They bring us this open-air art exhibit of permanent and temporary sculptures located in the downtown area. There are 27 sculptures in the permanent display that have been purchased by either the city, county, LDS church or Painted Pony Restaurant.   This year there are 23 sculptures in the temporary display and each one is available for purchase. This sculpture by Marie-Pierre Philippe is titled "Meditation" and listed at $12,000.    

Day 38- Dixie Livestock Show!

The reason people have their children participate in this show is to teach them leadership skills and about animals. The reason kids participate is the show is held in April and they get to miss three whole days of school!  As an added bonus, there is also a ripping fun dance on Friday night for all the kids that are showing. The kids can choose to show a  steer, lamb or hog. Our first year we had a lamb that ended up being the heaviest in the whole show. He thought he was a dog as he had been raised with three hounds and would fight them for the dog chow. You could say we had a lamb that was a pig that thought he was a dog.

Day 37- The Jones Adobe Home!

This one room adobe home was donated by the children of Clarence and Madaline Jones to the historical society and moved in 1996 to sit by the St. George Art Museum. If you ever get to feeling sorry for yourself and think you really, really need a bigger home, come look at this tiny house. It is the size of a shed or play house. The whole house is smaller than my bedroom!

Day 36- Photo- Wild Flowers!

Spring and summer bring these delightful yellow wild flowers blossoming along roads and fields. Drive out to the country and spend the day shooting these tiny sunflowers. This picture is titled "Hotel California" after the Eagles song as in if you are a fly you can can check out of this spider hotel anytime you want, but "you can never leave".
