Some totally cool things to do and a few 'avoids' thrown in for good measure! SO FUN!

Day 68- Zimmy's Market Cafe!
Inside the Bosch store on Bluff is this yummy little cafe. Prices are reasonable and the food is good. Now this is a "healthy" cafe and so there are a lot of funky grain salads and veggie soups but still plenty of meats available for us Republicans. The Chicken Salad is very good and has a creamy dressing with an unusual kick. The BBQ Pork Sandwich has awesome flavor though the bread is a little wimpy. (you can change the bread, just ask) I usually get the Hummus; the size is HUGE and only $3.21 w/tax! Do not accept any offers from the roaming owner for a free shot of wheat grass juice. My eyeballs almost fell out after just a tiny sip.

Day 67- "Outdoors"!
If you want to get outdoors, open the door. If you want to get OUTDOORS, look in the friday editions of 'The Spectrum & Daily News'. I have gone on several hikes that have been spotlighted here and they were all great. If you don't get the paper but still want to get the scoop, go to the online edition and click on the OUTDOORS link. You can see pictures and read a few stories but for more than that you will need to cough up some dough. No need to get your panties in a twist though as the fee is only $2 for 24 hours or $9.95 for a month.
Day 66- "Storyteller"!
Take a guess where this sculpture titled "Storyteller" should be located...if you guessed in front of a library, YOUR RIGHT! This sculpture is by Ed Hlavka and was part of the 2008 Art Around The Corner outdoor exhibit. The price was only $65,000 so maybe I will take two! Located in front of the St. George Library on 88 w and 100 s.

Day 65- Lake to Lake Relay!
I always knew there were crazy people on my husband's side of the family and this race TOTALLY proves it. A cousin's wife and her family returned AGAIN this year to run the Lake to Lake Relay. Yes, once wasn't enough, they have done this race repeatedly. This race starts at Gunlock State Park and goes for 50!!! miles to finally end at Sand Hollows State Park. This year the weather was gorgeous and I must admit to being just slightly envious at the fun they had. Have already warned the fam, next year WE are running this too! Yes insanity is hereditary, but it's also contagious...
Day 64- Tuacahn Saturday Market!

Day 63-Santa Clara Swiss Days 5K!
To teach the youth of their Swiss heritage, in 1990 Santa Clara began the annual Santa Clara Swiss Days celebration. Its a two day event complete with a parade, YODELING!!! and a 5k race. The race is on Saturday morning with a pancake, sausage, scrambled egg breakfast to follow. So all those calories you just burned off...THEIR BACK! Thursday, February 23, 2012
Day 62- Dino Tracks Museum!
I must admit to feeling a little disappointed the first time I went here. Yes, it is called Dino Tracks, but in my mind I envisioned full size dinosaurs with huge, bloody fangs. When I went to the museum all I saw was a lot of foot prints. Foot prints? Where was the blood? Where was the gore? I did not go back for a couple of years but when I finally did, I was very impressed. The displays had improved a lot plus I was able to appreciate them for what they were; not what I had assumed they would be. (you DO know what happens when you assume something don't you?)

Day 61- Closet Revival!
If your broke from spending too much money on clothes, wipe the tears out of your eyes because you have just been saved! Not only does Closet Revival have designer consignment clothes, they will even pay cash upfront for clothes that you take in. The clothes are clean and in good shape. The store is not huge but does have a nice selection of shoes, clothes, purses, jewelery, prom dresses, etc. There is also a back room with marked down items. The selection of men's clothing was small but I felt the quality was quite top of the line.

Day 59- 'The World Is Mine'!

Day 58- Suntran!
Why drive when you can be chauffeured all over town for just a buck? No need to look at it as using mass public transportation, but instead, as having your own personal stretch limo service! There are four routes and a bus comes to each stop every forty minutes. The buses are clean, the drivers are friendly and fellow riders do not look like escaped convicts.

Day 57- 'The Independent!'
For complete coverage and indepth info on what is going on for the next month in St. George, get a copy of 'The Independent'. This free monthly newspaper is an interesting read with short articles on a lot of the upcoming events, plus the arts and recreation. There is even info on St. George night life! (Yeah, we got night life...who'd a thunk?) In the freebie stands.

Day 56- Temple Quarry Trail!
Day 55- 'Spring & Summer Vessel'!
This gorgeous vase (now I pronounced that like "dude, you'se hoss just stepp'ED on ma toe." You know 'horse' but with an accent. Get it? We got CULTURE here.) is by Ben Hammond and titled 'Spring & Summer Vessel' and listed at $6,850. This is number five on Art Around the Corner 2011 and located on Main Street.

Day 54- 'Where It's @'!
If you want to know what is shakin' and bakin' in St. George, pick up the weekly "Where It's @". There is a restaurant review, movie listings, community happening for the next 10 days, etc. This cool little 'magazinie' thing is included in the Friday edition of The Spectrum newspaper or just grab one from the free publication stands in most stores.

Day 53- Camille's!
As I was crossing the parking lot on my way to try this new restaurant, I happen to pass an older couple just leaving with a Camille's doggy bag. "Great!" I thought, "I can ask them how the food is." Well they LOVED it (I was thrilled!) and it is a chain (I was pissed!) restaurant. I hate chains and don't eat there if at all possible. Well I threw my standards out the window and went in. I hate to say it but the food WAS good and I even plan on going back again. "Oh, how the mighty have fallen!"

Day 52- Irmita's Mexican Resturant!
OK people, if you have a hankerin' for some good old south-of-the-border Mexican food...DON'T GO HERE! My son's refried beans were cold, the rice was plain and the food blah, as in boring, as in could be ground up and bottled for baby food. Now I have eaten Irmita's at the Dixie Center and at Art In The Park...YUM! There are three Irmita's in town, one owned by Irmita and two owned by her ex-husband. The one at 95w 700 south is the ex-hubby's and the one I am reviewing (and regretting!) here.

Day 50- Bella Donna Boutique!

Day 49- Kanarra Creek slot hike!
This is one of my most memorable hikes EVER! The hike is quite short and can be done in 4 hours. Before entering the canyon, find a sturdy branch laying around and make yourself a walking stick. A lot of the hike is in the stream and if you wear tennis shoes and have your stick you will be set. There are some water slides and we stripped down to swimming suits and took the plunge several times. It was a blast! The hardest part is at two sections you will have to use the wooden stairs/rope to go further up. That in ITSELF is an adventure...
